SHOWER SCREEN WARRANTY & SAFETY

WHAT WARRANTY COMES WITH YOUR SHOWER SCREENS & MIRRORS?

Flexi Showers offers a 12 month warranty, for Shower Screens and Mirrors. This allows for any issues with the shower screen’s function to be covered on Flexi Showers behalf for workmanship or material. This does not include the glass breaking due to customer misuse.

DO YOUR SHOWER SCREENS COMPLY WITH AUSTRALIAN STANDARDS?

Yes, All Flexi Showers, Shower Screens are glazed to comply with the requirements of Australian Standards AS2208 and AS1288.

WHAT IS LAMINATED GLASS?

Laminated safety glass is formed by bonding two pieces of 3mm float glass with a PVB plastic inner layer. In the event of an impact and subsequent breakage, the glass remains in the frame as a single unit despite being broken.

Laminated glass is unsuitable for semi-frameless and frameless shower screens due to the vulnerable points created by exposed edges.

WHAT IS TOUGHENED GLASS?

Toughened glass (aka as tempered glass) undergoes heat treatment after being precisely cut (including any necessary hole or hinge cutouts for shower screens). Toughened glass is graded as Grade A safety glass and is crucial for use in semi-frameless and frameless shower screens due to the exposed edges, which require the added strength.

After the glass has been accurately cut to size, it undergoes a heat treatment process that alters its internal molecular structure, making it 4-5 times stronger than regular glass. This toughening process enhances the glass's strength significantly.

If this glass experiences a significant impact, it will break into small cubes as a safety measure to minimise injury, in contrast to large shards.

WHAT TYPE OF GLASS IS USED IN YOUR SHOWER SCREENS?

Our framed shower screens and shower panels feature 6.38mm laminated safety glass, due to the enclosed edges, and do not require holes in the glass. This makes laminated (A Grade safety glass) the best choice.

Semi-frameless and frameless shower screens use toughened glass for enhanced strength and to accommodate the exposed edges.
Semi-frameless shower screen glass is usually 6mm thick, while frameless shower screen glass is 10mm thick.

SHOWER SCREEN STYLE OPTIONS

WHAT ARE MY SHOWER SCREEN DOOR OPTIONS?

We provide

pivot doors (a door that rotates on a vertical axis, similar to a hinged door),

sliding doors and

even a no-door option to allow you to walk straight into your shower.

These options allow you to maximise your bathroom space whilst also allowing your bathroom to give any impression you desire. The different shower screen door options can be seen in our showroom or click here to be taken to our products page

WHAT IS SEMI FRAMELESS SHOWER SCREEN?

A semi frameless shower screen is a modern design shower which uses less aluminium at the side of the doors to instantly make any bathroom look more modern, streamline and spacious

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SEMI-FRAMELESS & FULLY FRAMED SHOWER SCREEN?

In a semi-frameless shower screen, we use toughened glass which is custom manufactured off site. It has been cut to size, polished, and put through an intense heat process prior to delivery to us. This means it can no longer be cut or machined in any way. Semi- frameless means some edges of the glass are framed and others are exposed.

Any exposed edges will have a safe smooth polished finish.

Fully framed shower screens offer more durability and stability, and offer greater water resistance, helping to keep your bathroom dry.

Our fully framed shower screens use laminated glass which can be cut to size on site.

Laminated glass must be framed to cover all edges.

I DON'T FEEL LIKE ENCLOSING MY SHOWER, WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?

Skipping door style opening shower screens all-together is becoming popular for many bathrooms, as a single fixed panel can help reduce water from going outside the shower. This can act as a wonderful middle ground for people who want something between a "wet room" and full containment.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH TYPE OF SHOWER SCREEN WILL SUIT MY SPACE?

There are many factors to consider when choosing a shower screen for your space, including the overall design aesthetic, available space, and functionality. One way to determine which style will suit your space is by considering the layout of your shower area - for example, a sliding shower screen may work well in a narrow bathroom, while a framed or frameless shower screen may be a better fit for a larger, more open shower area.

It's also important to consider the design elements in your bathroom - for example, a minimalist frameless shower screen may complement a modern-style bathroom, while a framed shower screen with decorative accents may fit better in a traditional or eclectic space. Ultimately, it's about finding the right balance of form and function for your shower area.

WHAT ARE THE BEST SHOWER SCREENS FOR WATER RETENTION?

Framed shower screens excel at water retention because all components overlap when closed, minimising the possibility of water leakage. In contrast, semi-frameless, frameless, shower panels, and bath screens have sections with openings between the glass or panels, increasing the likelihood of water leakage or spillage.

DO I NEED TO USE A SUPPORT BAR OR A SHELF IN YOUR SHOWER SCREENS?

Depending on the showers configuration a brace may be required to ensure the stability of your shower screen. Flexi Showers Frameless Showers Screens are installed to be compliant with Australian Standards.

WHY DO SOME SHOWER SCREENS STILL LEAK WATER?

Despite the name, shower screens aren't always a foolproof defense against water leakage. Due to their frameless or semi-frameless design, there will always be small gaps where water can escape. And while this is normal and expected, excessive leakage could result from the initial installation or wear and tear over time. In these cases, it's important to inspect the shower screen for cracked seals or loose panels and address them immediately.

You can also prevent leaks by regularly cleaning and maintaining the shower screen, as buildup of grime and soap residue can impede proper sealing. Remember, a little preventative care can go a long way in keeping your shower screen leak-free.

HOW DO I STOP MY SHOWER SCREEN FROM LEAKING WATER?

There are a few ways to help with shower screen leakage:

SHOWER HEAD

  • Look at the angle of the shower head, and adjust the water flow to point straight down rather than pointing to the gaps, this can make a big difference to water leaking on your bathroom floor.

  • If your shower head produces a high volume of water, reducing the amount of water flow could be your solution.

  •  Examine how the water deflects off your body when taking a shower. Changing the angle of the shower head may improve the amount of water leaking outside the shower.

  •  Is there a large gap under your shower door? Installing plastic rubber shower screen water seal strips which will cover the gaps and help to reduce the water that may leak out.

DRAINAGE (does water form a puddle on your floor?)

  • If your flooring doesn't have a slope to allow the water to drain quickly, water will fill and pool in the space - consider reducing the water flow from your shower head.

  • Drain capacity - is the drain large enough to take a high volume of water flow? If not, consider reducing the water volume.

  • Drain blockage - is it clear from debris and build up? If you can see physical blockage, try clearing the drain or have a professional clear the drain for you to prevent water pooling and leaking out of your shower area.

Flexi Showers cannot guarantee full water retention, Frameless shower doors are not 100% watertight.

WILL YOUR SHOWER SCREENS FIT ON A SHOWER TRAY OR PRE MADE BASE?

Yes, our shower screens are designed and manufactured to suit an array of shower bases

CAN SHOWER SCREENS BE ADAPTED TO ACCOMODATE DISABLED ACCESS?

Absolutely, there are multiple options of our shower screens that are perfect for disabled access;

One option is Fixed Shower Screen Panels can be set at any width, which can allow for wheelchairs, shower chairs and room for two people if needed.

It is important to note that without a door, this could potentially lead to water on the floor, and potential slip hazard.

The other option to consider is a sill-less framed shower screen.

The design of this shower screen is essentially identical to the regular framed option, with the exception that the sill ( - the aluminium piece connected to the floor) is not used. As a result, wheelchair users can effortlessly enter and exit the shower, ensuring convenient accessibility. One minor drawback is that a small amount of water may potentially leak from the bottom area where the sill would typically be located.

Sill-less options for shower screen include:

  • Frameless Panel Shower Screen (as above)

  • Framed Panel Shower Screen (as mentioned above)

  • Frameless Hinged Shower Screen

  • Frameless Sliding Shower Screen

  • The Mirage Shower Screen can also be made without a sill if required.
